Salad bars are dangerous because of the people constantly going up to them. They may be tracking water, dirt or other slippery materials. In addition to this, they may be dropping items off of their plates and causing additional trip hazards. Be sure that you’re careful around these areas of a restaurant. Not being careful can be the equivalent of inviting disaster.

Near the Kitchen

Restaurants quite often have swinging doors that allow waiters and waitresses to leave the kitchen with their hands full by simply walking into the door. Unfortunately, they sometimes do this while not paying as much attention as they should to who is on the other side of the door. Because of this, it’s easy to get injured by a suddenly opening door. Be careful of these areas and stay out of the travel paths of the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant.

Bathrooms

These are typically very dangerous. People tend to track water on the floor and to leave garbage near the garbage cans, which creates hazards. Classier establishments tend to have very well maintained bathrooms, however, and these are usually not nearly as dangerous as the bathrooms you’ll find in fast food restaurants and other, cheaper, establishments.

Entryways

These are some of the most dangerous areas in any establishment. Because people are coming in from outside, they’re tracking water, snow, ice, mud, dirt and just about everything else in with them. To make sure that you don’t end up taking a spill, be watchful in these areas. Be careful for bunched up rugs and floor mats, as they present trip hazards, as well.
