22 Mar A DFW Accident Can Be Avoided?
There are too many instances where a Dallas car accident causes far more injuries and property damage than it should have. In many of these instances, the cause of the wreck was not really the vehicle; it was human emotion.
Rushing to Work and Home
There’s an old expression, “don’t drive angry”, that has a lot of wisdom to it. When you’re angry, you’re concentrating on the fact that you’re angry, not on the road. The same applies to being in a rush. If you’re in such a rush that you cannot think straight and that you’re losing your temper constantly, you should pull over or at least take a deep breath and slow down. The real irony of this situation is that, even if you’re speeding and running lights, you usually won’t get to your destination more than a few seconds faster than you would have if you were driving sensibly.
Driving Fast at Night
On a weekend night, you can always count on a lot of flashy cars driving around way too fast. The danger with this is that driving fast at night is much more difficult than driving fast in the day and, of course, most people can’t even handle driving fast in the day safely. At night, you only have until the end of your headlights to react to something before you hit it. It’s important to drive at a speed that gives you adequate time to react to anything that comes into range of your headlights. Conveniently enough, this speed is usually pretty close to the posted speed limit, as this factor is taken into account when determining that speed limit in the first place.
If you’re new to city driving, it’s not a bad idea to consider taking a defensive driving course. In many cases, your insurance company will offer you lower rates if you do. These courses may feel a little bit like driver’s education from high school, but they have a lot of information in them that is usually new to even experienced drivers. Some of the skills you learn can be very helpful when you’re dealing with dangerous traffic.
If someone injures you, destroys your property or worse due to their own negligent driving, contact a Dallas car wreck attorney. They have expertise in the law and may be able to help you get compensation.
