Living with CP: Real Life Stories of Inspiration

Living with CP: Real Life Stories of Inspiration

Born in Puyallup, Washington, Ryan Buckley was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder and multiple developmental deficiencies at birth. As you can imagine, these conditions make every single day very difficult for him to manage. However, that has not stopped young Ryan from exploring life and all it has to offer. His determination and passion for life have been a true inspiration to all those around him. Today, Ryan loves music and baseball among many other joys that make living with CP much easier.

Katy Fetters, a student attending Huntington Beach High School in Orange County, California, has a mild form of cerebral palsy that affects the left side of her body. While she experiences occasional soreness and fatigue in her calf, foot and ankle area, Katy tries her best not to let the condition slow her down. Katy is a very active teen who participates in physical therapy, weight training, yoga and soccer. Katy also maintains a blog where she invites others with CP to hang out, discussion their challenges and feel as if they belong.

Eva Sweeny, a 26 year old college graduate, has a serious form of CP that leaves her severely disabled. In fact, she cannot speak, walk or move her muscles like unaffected people. Despite this condition, Eva manages to enjoy herself by writing, taking digital photographs and just relaxing. She also gets a kick out of how she is treated by others, recording their reactions on the camera mounted to her wheel chair and posting them to her blog

Cerebral palsy is a disorder that occurs at birth or in early childhood. Most children born with this condition are unable to play, sit up straight and perform other simple tasks. While CP forces both children and adults to deal with a number of obstacles, many are still able to go on to lead fulfilling lives. If someone you know, or yourself, has suffered from cerebral palsy due to medical malpractice, you could be eligible to seek monetary compensation.
