Women Assaulted in Australia Nursing Home

A male dementia patient at an Australia nursing home allegedly raped and sexually assaulted several of the Bramble House’s women residents over a nine month time frame starting last April. According to Australia’s Daily Telegraph, case notes included complaint that the man fondled and groped the women residents, asking for sex and kisses; tried to unbutton their clothing; and allegations of rape.

Senior staff eventually implemented behavior management initiatives and the resident was removed from the home after nine months. Should something have been done sooner? Did these women suffer unnecessarily? It is already becoming more obvious that we have to carefully choose nursing care staff, but should we have to worry about inappropriate behavior from other residents? Read more here and be sure to contact a nursing home attorney if you suspect your loved ones have been neglected or abused in a nursing home setting.
