09 Mar Nursing Home Residents Starved as Punishment
An article published today out of Japan opens our eyes to the fact that nursing home abuse is not just happening in the U.S., but rather across the world as well. A home accredited for the care of elderly patients with senile dementia will be losing its license at the end of April for allegedly starving its elderly residents. With cases such as a woman whose weight dropped from 50 kilograms (about 110 pounds) to 33.5 kilograms (about 74 pounds) in just 10 months, the article reports that residents were apparently denied meals when they failed to obey staff orders.
