09 Mar 88-Year-Old Found Frostbitten Block from Nursing Home
When a high school student found 88-year-old Marguerite Miller about a block from the Osage Rehab and Health Care Center dressed in just a hospital gown in sub-zero Iowa temperatures, she was taken to a hospital and treated for frostbite and hypothermia. The resident was documented as having the tendency to wander, yet her absence was apparently unnoticed before she was found at 2 a.m.
The nursing home is now appealing a $10,000 fine from the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals Heath Facilities Division. Read more here.
