29 Jul Semi Truck Accident Turns Deadly In Southern Illinois
A man was killed in a tractor-trailer accident last Saturday while riding his motorcycle in southern Illinois. The semi was driven by David Johnson, 69, of Moline and was stopped at the intersection of I-64 and Illinois 1 in White County. The truck then turned northbound onto Illinois 1 for reasons that are as yet unknown.
This brought it directly into the path of a southbound Honda motorcycle. The bike hit the driver’s side of the tractor trailer and resulted in injuries that would take the life of the rider.
The question is, why did David Johnson turn into oncoming traffic? Was he confused? Fatigued due to long hours on the road? Was this man even fit to be driving a semi truck? When was his last medical examination? Whatever the answers, one thing is clear: a young man is dead now due to someone else’s errors.
