22 Jul Two More Semi Truck Accidents to Report
We have another semi truck accident to report. Apparently, the driver was speeding and unable to stop when he slammed into several vehicles on I-75 in Troy. A 19-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured, including himself. The wreck happened at 8:40 a.m. on I-75 approaching the Coolidge Highway and left the freeway shut down until the early afternoon.
Troy Police Lt. Gerry Scherlinck said the semi truck “came up on the slowing traffic at what witnesses describe as a speed higher than indicated for conditions. The semi hit its brakes and went into a skid. It hit a vehicle in front of it and then continued sliding sideways into the right lane.”
Scherlinck said that they are still investigating witness statements and evidence from the scene and awaiting a mechanical inspection of the truck before deciding to pursue charges.
Another semi truck accident occurred on Interstate 84 in Waterbury after a tractor-trailer wreck spilled lumber all over the highway. Only minor injuries were reported in this incident. The semi truck accident ended up closing down the highway for about two and a half hours. State police are investigating the cause of the accident.
