18 Jul 2 More Accidents Involving Semi Trucks
A 10-year old was attempting to cross under the trailer of a semi truck with three other children and was run over and killed last night in Chicago. Malick Brown was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The four boys were trying to run under a UPS semi truck as it sat stopped at a stop sign on Cicero Avenue. It began to move with Malick under the trailer and he was crushed.
Malick was still alive on the scene but suffered massive internal injuries. He was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital. Apparently the children were all heading home from a park at the time. The semi truck remained on the scene after the accident and had not received any citations as of 9 p.m.
In similar news, one person died in Wichita, Kansas after an accident along the Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County. Investigators say that an SUV exited the highway going at a high speed. The SUV hit a sign, lost control and then ran into the backs of two semi trucks. According to the accident report, 40-year-old Rusty Anderson was driving and 28-year-old Ellen Remy was sitting in the front passenger seat. Both were hurt and taken to a Wichita hospital. 27 year old Christopher Cole died at the scene.
