16 Jul 2 Disastrous Semi-Truck Accidents in One Week
A man was killed yesterday when he collided with a semi truck near the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. Both vehicles were traveling westbound on University avenue, when the driver of the semi made a right turn. He swung the tractor trailer out wide to make the turn and the driver of the scooter attempted to beat the truck through the intersection.
The man on the scooter struck the side of the semi and died at the scene of the accident. The Hennepin County medical examiner is still working to determine the man’s identity.
Another semi truck accident occurred in Reno earlier this week.
The driver of the big rig fell asleep at the wheel and rammed it into a mobile home. According to Douglas County Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Logan, a 16-year-old girl had to be pulled from under the semi because the room she was sleeping in ended up under the vehicle. She is still being treated at Renown Medical Center.
Both victims in the semi-truck accident had to be taken to Carson Valley Medical Center and then transported by helicopter from the Gardnerville facility.
