The Georgia State Patrol has reported a tractor-trailer accident in Lumpkin County Tuesday afternoon. Sources say that 39-year old Willie Lee Wiley Jr. of Dalton lost control of his truck while attempting to negotiate a curve on Georgia Highway 136.
The tractor-trailer turned over and left the roadway, rolling down an embankment and striking a group of trees. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Motorists should be aware of the dangers associated with tractor trailer accidents. Statistics show that thousands of motorists are killed or severely injured by tractor trailer accidents every year.. Unsafe Semi-Truck driving and over sized Semi-Truck loads put the public in extreme danger, causing personal injury and wrongful death.
The state of Texas has the highest volume of trucking traffic. Cities that lie on the U.S. / Mexican Border account for millions of annual Semi-Truck crossings and billions of dollars in goods shipped to the U.S. from Mexico.
With such a high volume of tractor trailer traffic, it is not surprising that our home state experiences a large amount of tractor trailer accidents every year.
