Semi-Truck Derails Train

Semi-Truck Derails Train

A semi truck crashed into a moving train at a rail crossing in Dallas Saturday night (March 29). Family members following the truck claim the breaks on the truck failed as it approached the crossing at Vilbig Street, south of the Trinity River and north of Commerce Street. Luckily, the driver of the truck was the only person to sustain injuries, and those injuries were not serious.

The truck had apparently just left the city pound when the accident happened, derailing eight freight train cars and turning six of them over. On it’s way from Laredo, Tex. to Madison, Ill., 52 of the trains 80 cars were loaded. While the brakes may have failed as family members suggested, that is no excuse for such an incident. One of the most common causes of semi truck accidents is mechanical failure and all such vehicles should be properly inspected on a regular basis. While there were no serious injuries in this case, what happens the next time when that train is a passenger train full of innocent victims.

If you or someone you know has been injured in an accident with a semi-truck, contact a Hoffman Estates train accident lawyer to see if you might have a case. And always be careful when approaching grade crossings.
