10 Mar Teen Passengers More Likely to Die in Crashes than Children
A recent report published in the March edition of the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine found that teens are more likely to die in automobile accidents than children. Looking at crashes involving passengers aged 8-17, those with passengers age 12 and older were much more likely to be fatal crashes. The study showed in the crashes where the passengers were age 12-16, more than 54 percent of the drivers were under 20 years old. The majority of the teens were not buckled up and in about 20 percent of theses crashes, drinking was a factor.
