Update: China Tightens Reigns on Heparin

Though the Chinese drug safety agency initially insisted that ensuring the quality of exported chemical was the responsibility of those importing the chemicals, the agency is now demanding that local authorities take more control over heparin production. The producers are now required to utilize registered suppliers to obtain the raw chemicals to make the blood-thinner. Similarly, the suppliers have been ordered to improve their product management and testing system.
After a history of inadequate regulation of China's medicine supplies and pharmaceuticals, it's about time the drug agency steps in.
